Dr. P.K. Baby joined Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) as the Director of Students' Welfare, Department of Youth Welfare, in 2009. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and an M.B.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from CUSAT.

Dr. Baby has participated in workshops at major institutions under the World Bank-aided Environmental Economics Capacity Building Programme. Prior to his appointment at CUSAT, he served as a Lecturer in Economics at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, and later as an Assistant Professor at Sree Narayana Guru Institute of Science and Technology (SNGIST), North Paravur, Kochi.

An active academic and researcher, Dr. Baby has over seven years of teaching experience and more than fifteen years of academic administrative experience. He has supervised over 40 MBA dissertations, one M.Phil. dissertation, and two Ph.D. theses. He is a recipient of the prestigious K.N. Raj Fellowship from the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, and the Best Paper Award from the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bengaluru.

His academic contributions include the authorship of two books, three book chapters, and ten research articles published in peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of his outstanding work with youth, he received the Youth Leadership Award at the 16th Global Youth Festival held in Sri Lanka in 2023.

Dr. Baby formerly served as the Chairperson of the Cochin University Students Union and later held the position of Treasurer and Staff Advisor of the Cochin University Students Union. He also served as the Assistant Director in charge of the Department of Physical Education and as the Programme Coordinator of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at the University. In March 2023, he was nominated by the Government of Kerala as a Member of the Syndicate of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).
